MOR ELIAN X STUDIO183

Last Friday in Mitte, we had the pleasure to spend a sun-filled afternoon with our friend Mor Elian, the ever so cool boundary pushing techno DJ, producer & designer, who just dropped her EP Cymatic Ring, kicked off her brand new record label FEVER AM & completed her US tour. The artist selected her favourite in-store designs at STUDIO183, hair & make-up was done by the amazing Bastian Casaretto, artistic director of AVEDA Germany. STUDIO183′s Mark Hunt took some snaps & we spent a relaxed afternoon in Mitte, catching up and getting into some serious fashion.

CHECK OUT THE RESULTS OF OUR AFTERNOON HERE.

STUDIO183: Mor, you have a very unique style in terms of music and fashion. Describe your personal style in 3 words.

Did Berlin change your aesthetic and approach to music and design in any way?
ye, I adapted a slight more lady like LA hip hop style when I was there (nothing trashy was more sporty spice I guess) and I let that go as soon as i was gone, was a short phase, and didn’t go that deep.

You began collecting vinyls at a young age, when and how did your passion for music start?
My passion for music started at a pretty young age, I was influenced by my older sisters that were also obsessed and I would steal their cd’s and listen to them in my room on my own compact disc. Later on I took it much further than they did. Music was always an area I felt strong within, as I wasn’t so good in school.

You just completed your US tour. Highlights?
wow so many highlights, but visiting some places for the first time like Pittsburgh, Detroit, Tuscon and Portland was a very special. I met really good people with great visions and happy to see rave culture develop once again in the US.

When did you start FEVER AM and what is it?
Fever am is a record label i started with Rhyw (alex tsiridis) to have an outlet to express our musical vision.

What’s next in terms of music?
I have a couple of releases planned before end of this year. looking forward. other then that more mixes more gigging and hopefully some nice vacation time.

What’s your pet peeve?
When people walk up to me advising me how to play or what to play. i should invite them behind the decks next time to take over see how they do.

If you could take 3 things to a desert island, what would they be?
Well hopefully there’s food & water there so I’ll take some sunscreen and my iphone & some coffee too.

Your favourite designer and / or artist? And why?
I really like 69 in LA.

Why did you choose these specific designers for the shoot?
Just gravitated towards those pieces, it’s really how I dress!

You are also a jewellery designer, what inspires you the most and what drew you to the materials you use?
I think for me its basic shapes and play with those shapes. one idea leads to another, its an endless thought stream (check out Mor’s line MYRRH jewelry)

Who’s your style icon?
The only one that comes to mind is Gwan Stefanie. Sometimes it gets cheesy but she always makes it work somehow.

BERLIN FASHION WEEK ROUNDUP - STUDIO183 MITTE FLAGSHIP STORE

Berlin Fashion Week was incredibly exciting and packed with countless shows and happenings. While we could luckily find time to attend some of the shows, we also made sure to welcome the fashion crowd to our own events, in both of our fabulous locations.

Dive into the happenings of last week in our Mitte Flagship Store!

MARTIN MARGIELA ARCHIVE POP-UP

image

We started the week in our Flagship Store in Mitte with a very special opening night for our Maison Martin Margiela Archive Vernissage and Pop-Up. Guests were invited to admire the genius of the designer whilst shopping the collection. In addition, the exhibition gave them the opportunity to pick apart his ideas through the unique pieces and iconic accessories from his early collections, as well as interpret them with the help of collectible lookbooks and original VHS recordings of fashion shows from the ‘90s.

The coolest of the cool joined to pay homage to the designer, who stepped aside from his eponymous label in the ‘00s - thank you to everyone who joined us for this journey!

AVEDA STYLING LOUNGE

Our lovely group of influencers and the amazing Aveda Team made the second day of the week very special.

The bloggers selected their favourite pieces from our designers in-store, while the professional hairstylists and make-up artists of Aveda enhanced their good looks so that they could pose for photographer Mark Hunt.

They walked out of our store with a goodie bag full of treats from Aveda, Uslu Airlines, Frau Tonis Parfum, Wildcorn, DÖRRWERK, and Citykeks.

STICK AND POKE TATTOO PARLOR WITH MYRIAM KORIAT

image

On the next day, we welcomed the lovely tattoo artist Myriam Koriat, who worked her magic on our guests’ body canvases in stick and poke style. DJs Dan Meyer and Oda Haliti were on the decks playing the coolest tunes, whilst we celebrated with Dr. Koehler prosecco and sipped on gin and tonic from Windspiel manufaktur.

LIVE ART-FASHION PERFORMANCE WITH CHRISTINA KNOBBE

image

On the final day of Berlin Fashion Week we experienced the spellbinding performance of our resident Berlin artist, Christina Knobbe, who painted her signature style live onto a garment worn by our wonderful model, Maurice. Christina’s abstract swirling shapes kept us hypnotised throughout the performance!

Monolit provided the musical backdrop to the night and complementary beverages were served to all of our lovely guests by Michelberger Fountain of Youth, Kreutzbergs Regenerativum, Hoos London Gin, Dr. Koehler, and Windspiel manufaktur.

By the end of the week we were extremely tired but incredibly happy, it was very rewarding to see all the lovely fashion people coming together for a celebration of creativity. We are already looking forward to the next one!
